In all manner of trespass, whether it be for oxen, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges, and whom the Judges condemn, he shall pay the double unto the neighbor.

10 If a man deliver unto his neighbor to keep ass, or ox, or sheep, or any beast, and it die, or be [a]hurt, or taken away by enemies, and no man see it,

11 [b]An oath of the Lord shall be between them twain, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbor’s good, and the owner of it shall take the oath, and he shall not make it good:
